In September of 2010, I had business in Ventura, CA. As usual, I took to the road with one of my dogs (Dallas) to make my way there. Dallas and I crossed into California from Nevada and drove directly to the coast before heading south to Ventura and stumbled upon a spectacular pet friendly location, Pismo Beach, California! This classic beach town is located on California's famous central coast, half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Coast.
Upon arrival, I quickly discovered that the breathtaking long, white beaches were dog friendly. I was overcome by the beauty of Pismo Beach and was ahead of schedule, so I decided to stay for 3 nights before heading to Ventura. This was one of the best decisions I ever made.
My 3-day stay there was exactly what I needed. I had been working 7 days a week, 12 hours a day and was constantly on the go. So, I decided to splurge and stay at the very luxurious Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa.
Very rarely do I treat myself to such an exclusive resort and spa. But, it was well worth it. I left there with a rejuvenated spirit and replenished soul. Dallas and I enjoyed leisurely walks along the coast each day and took in the magnificent sites. He is pictured just outside our patio door to our suite.
I learned that there were many pet-friendly restaurants and wineries and parks in the area, but, admittedly, we didn't venture too far from the Dolphin Bay & Resort. We went only as far as our legs would take us. We simply couldn't get enough of the beach. It was downright dog-a-licious.
If you find yourself in California, we highly recommend a trip to Pismo Beach. There are dozens of pet friendly hotels along the coast which may be found and booked at our site. I suspect that once you arrive there that you and your dogs will not want to leave. I long for a return trip to this beautiful and very dog friendly destination.
